Once you have hired the estate sale company, there are a few things you can do to smooth out the process. Here are my top ten tips on what to do before the estate sale company comes in to prepare for the sale.
1. Clean out refrigerator and freezer.
2. Dispose any family paperwork.
3. Remove all items from the home that are not for sale. This includes getting family members to get what they want out also.
4. Remove all family photos.
5. Remove anything from the attic you wish to keep.
6. Throw away old paint, chemicals, and any other trash from the garage/storage room.
7. Toss bed mattresses that have stains on them.
8. Notify the estate sale company of which day the trash is picked up.
9. Introduce the realtor (if one has been hired) to the estate sale company so that the estate sale company can work hand in hand with them.
10. Have a plan of action in place of what you want to be done with the remaining items at the end of the sale that did not sell.
